MY GREAT PHYSICIAN

As I venture into hospital "lala land" this Tuesday,I rest in the fact that my God is, and has been, watching over me since before the foundation of the world,so I'm pretty sure He will watch over me now.He has had me in the palm of His hand, and I think He will watch over 'ole Bec,while she is at Beaufort Memorial on Tuesday. I can't tell you how many folks have been praying for me,already, and I sense that covering too.I pray you will continue to lift my sweetie up,and that God will watch out for Him too.He won't be the same without me to drive him crazy!(lol) I should be home on Thursday, but not back on the computer for awhile. As soon as the doc gives me the go ahead to use both hands, but when he does, you better believe I will be "journeying" again!
Our God is an awesome God,.......isn't He folks?
Nellah will be staying with me on Wednesday part of the day, since David will be gone. Love to see some of your sweet faces, and have a great week.....Becky

MY DADDY, THE BUILDER

Daddy was a wonderful builder and architect, and the motto he had written on the side of his truck, was "JG Ray,Jr.,Builder of Fine Homes".
I could always be proud of that name, and could boast in the fact that Daddy built some of the best and most soundly built homes in central Florida!....or wherever he built them, for that matter!Anyone who owned a J.G. Ray built home would stand by that motto too. I could therefore proudly stand and boast in my Daddy's name, because he earned the title! His character and quality of building gave him the right!
In the same way, we are told that we can boast in the name of the Lord! We can have confidence in His character and His attributes because they are unchanging and will never fail!He will always be true to this quality too!To know His name is to truly know Him.I knew my Daddy's name, and what He stood for.
I think God's motto might be:"God,builder of the Finest Home.....Heaven!"
Woo Hoo!.....Let's all boast in His name, folks!

WORTH THE WAIT

When I was a little girl,I had a small 12" wicker basket, that had a pastel blue satin lining.I put all my baby doll clothes in it for wash day and Mother would let me wash those clothes when she washed our clothes.(I have since given this to my daughter Kelly!)I always wanted Mother to buy me those miniature Tide boxes to wash the doll clothes in, because it was just the right size for the clothes, but she said they were just too expensive. The day I graduated from high school, though,I came home to find one of those miniature Tide boxes on my bed! I've never forgotten it either!
Today, when I went to visit Jenn, over at South Point,I noticed that she had those same little miniature Tide boxes in her KOA campground store for sale for 91cents!
Guess who bought one? :p)
Sometimes there are things in life that are just worth waiting for, aren't there?
God's word was given to His disciples and His followers some 2,000 years ago, and I'd say that it is the one and only thing in this life that is worth waiting for!
God's word is sharper than any two edged sword and when God speaks, we will listen!Even if we are "too old to cut the mustard",I bet His word will still cut it! :pD
And what He says is worth waiting for too!

Marie came down to Edisto this week and we were treated to a delightful afternoon. Leland suggested we walk out on Botony Bay and see the beach front from there, and folks after thirty some years at Edisto,I have never seen a more breathtaking sight! We walked a half mile from where we parked the car and witnessed a breathtaking view of a deserted strip of beach filled with shells and wild life.It was as if we had stepped onto a deserted island,it was so pristine. We were exhausted from walking, and since there were no chairs,we found an old tree trunk, and sat for a while and rested, before the trek back to the car. Boy howdy was this ever worth it!
We knew we had to go just a little further in our effort, because the end result would be worth it! Hopefully the younger generation will be adventurous enough to take this trek too, even though there aren't any game rooms or extra activities, because it is so worth it!
Scripture tells us we are to teach the younger women. We are to go the extra mile and make a further attempt at teachiing them what Christ would have them learn......to be reverent in their behavior and to admonish them to love their husbands and to teach them what is good and to not be malicious gossips. There are so many things the older,"wiser" woman can impart to the younger women, and we are to teach the younger ladies, just so God's name will not be dishonored by their behavior.......
If that walk was worth the effort, think of what teaching the younger women will look like in the eyes of God?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

My brother Michael remembers going to Sebring Florida, when Grandmother and Grandaddy Bouterse had a home down there.I'm not sure why they lived there then, but I remember going down there to see them too.
Michael emailed me this morning and told me that he remembered hearing Grandaddy play the guitar on the radio there, while Grandmother sang songs. His favorite song that she sang was called "Chicken Pie."
Michael remembers her musical lyrics, like I remember her scriptural words.
God has given us His own word to remember too, in scripture.Sometimes,we even learn it by putting the words to song.I'm not sure if scripture would make up "Chicken Pie," but it surely would be good "food for thought"!

CHILDREN OF THE KING

Have you ever considered our line, as women in the line of our Living God? I mean, look at all the women of influence for the Kingdom in the Bible.
Both negative and positive, women played a big role!
Eunice and Lois influenced Timothy in a big way;
Hagar influenced Ishmael;Jochabed influenced Moses;Mary influenced Jesus;
Jacob was influenced by Rebekah;Naomi influenced Ruth;Abigail;Esther;Sarah influenced Abraham;Sapphira influenced Annanias;Jezebel;Delila influenced Samson;Hulda influenced King Josiah;Lydia influenced Phoebe and Priscilla....

Some of these women were influences in a negative way,and some in a positive way. Some turned the believers eyes away from God and the people paid the consequences too.
May we live and act like daughters,mothers,grandmothers;aunts;etc....... of the Living King( and sons too,) which tells our Father that we wear our crown proudly, because we are children of the King!

THE END

God told us the end, at the beginning.
How cool is that?

THE REMEDY

Grandmother 's remedy for a cold, was "Vernor's Ginger Ale", and for a sore throat,it was "Throat Disc's." Just a tad bit of ginger ale over crushed ice and one soda cracker to nibble on! Yep,.....that was her remedy, and it worked every time!
Sometimes she would give me "Horehounds"candy for an upset stomach, and they helped too. These were her tried and true Dutch remedies, when encountering aches and pains and they were passed down to me, and I have passed them down to my children too.
God's children have passed down things from generation to generation and we should too. It's important for us to do these things, so the next generation continues to know the word of God.Her best remedy was for the forgiveness of sins!
Since God can calm the seas, and He can calm a stomach,we need to remember that He can do all these things and give Him thanks!

YOUR WOORD

Father, Your word is settled in Heaven,so why can't it be settled down here on earth?

PSALM 93

Listening to Paslm 93 on the radio tonight, reminded me of the Lord, as He leads us beside Him to the still waters, where I can feel my soul being restored...Oh how it feels so refreshing!
No,I don't need a thing,in order for my Shepherd to be by my side, and to be guiding me in the paths of righteousness. When I lie down in green pastures,I want for nothing.
I could walk right into the crevice of death itself, but I won't be alarmed, because You are right there with me,holding me up.........Infact,You will slay the one, seeking to slay me!
Be still my soul..........
The Shepherd is here, and I will dwell with Him forevermore!

THE KINGS GARDEN

There is nothing better than planting a garden, and then digging around and finding those new and exciting veggies in the Springtime.I love it when the new potatoes come in and you can dig around in the ground and find the tiniest ones to eat! It's a new experience when you find a potato after just seeing a plant and roots, after all those weeks. Or, when you finally can pick your first Broccoli, after only seeing leaves.......Oh, how exciting! Yes,it's an exciting time when those first veggies come in, and it's an exciting time when we first find the Lord too!
When the seed of Eternal Life has been planted in our hearts, and grown into full fruition,it is an exciting time to watch as it grows and blooms!
We might not be very tasty, but we can become beautiful creations for the Kings Garden, and this is one garden that won't say "Keep Out"!

LET HIM REIGN!

As David and I drove into the doctor today,I noticed that the leaves on the trees were all turned up on the undersides again.Grandmother always told me that when the undersides of the leaves faced upwards,it was going to rain. The sky was perfectly clear, and sunny, and David commented that it probably wasn't a very accurate way to forcast the weather!
However, about 5:30,as I was driving back in for Wednesday night services,....sure enough......it started raining!
However, the leaves aren't always an accurate and dependable forcast, and they can't always be depended upon, even though it's sorta fun.
There is one forcast, however, that never fails, and that is the God's word!
If you want to see a "REIGN",just watch God's word, because without fail,HE WILL REIGN!!!

FINDING A WAY

I've often wondered how Grandmother Bouterse taught me about Jesus.I mean, what did she say to get me to understand who he was and what He did for all of us? In thinking about this, when my own children were little, the hardest part for me,was to teach them to memorize scripture. How did she get me to memorize all the scripture that I did? She had a little box of prayer verses we used at meals, that I still have, and I remember that we talked about them at all the meals....every day;all the time!....and it wasn't boring folks! We would wake up and talk about why Jesus did what He did,... and why did I think He did it! Then she would give me time to really think about it........It became a pattern for me, and all these years later, when I can't memorize much of anything, but still need to encourage someone in a letter,He makes available all those scripture verses, and allows them to come flooding back to me just like it was yesterday!.... It is wild! (King James edition though!)
When God's involved in something,His plans will not be thwarted, and getting His word out to His children is what He wants, so He will provide!Just make yourself available and He will fill you out!

STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED

Think about this.......
When Daddy built a house(and he built plenty of them) he had to count on his architectural drawings and designs that he drew, to complete his homes. He had to study them thoroughly each time, over and over.
When I learned to sew,I had to read and study the guide sheet before I ever placed a piece of material down to cut! I had to study it good too, or I would have placed the darts down by the knee caps!
Before the first word was ever put into print, man had to study the typeset, and how it worked. Nothing man ever does can be accomplished, without studying first.
It just won't happen! Think about it........
If you want to accomplish something, you usually read up on it, and then do your best,to accomplish that goal, ............don't you?
Then, why does it surprise us so much, to understand, that in order to be more Christlike,we have to study the word of God?!

CLACKITY CLACK

Grandmother's teeth clacked when she talked, but she had a smile that would melt a candy bar! She wore black, thick high heeled shoes and thought she was in style! She always took the "Old Maid" card, and let me win when we played the game of Old Maid. She only had a chamber pot in her bedroom, and it was a special priviledge to be able to use it on the weekends, instead of having to walk down to the bath house. I'd be stretching it to come up with anything negative about this lady, because she was so filled with love for her Lord. You just enjoyed being around her, even though she wasn't very schooled. She made doll clothes for me and sweeping the trailer was an adventure. We would pretend that her trailer was a river boat and sing and sweep to the tune of "The Old Rugged Cross"!(Talk about a melody!)
Even though she took Digitalis for her high blood pressure, her blood was iron rich in its love for the Lord. From Throat Disc's to Vernor's Ginger Ale,I was given every remedy under the son, that a Dutch grandmother could give their grandaughter. The best remedy she ever gave me,though, was the one for the forgiveness of sins........and that was Jesus Christ!
What a blessing to know this lady!
What a blessing that she was my Grandmother!
What a blessing that she is a child of the King!
Woo Hoo!

TAKE A NUMBER

Somehow,Grandmother Bouterse knew that when she taught me the promises of God having a mansion for me in Heaven, and that He would one day come back and take me back Home to be with Him,that I would one day count on those promises coming true!Somehow, she knew that those promises were so important, that she imparted them to me at an early age! She even wrote them on paper for me some 48 years ago! As I read them on the inside cover of my Bible,I truly understand why she gave me these verses like she did.She knew I would think on these things and ponder them in my heart in times of distress.....and I do! She counted on me doing this,so that when temptations;sorrows;disappointments;failures;happiness come,I would think on these things and have the simple faith in the One who has never lost a battle, but always be ready to hear me when I come to Him.......and I do!
I think God must have whispered to her about David Jr. dying;my brain hemorrage;Mama's divorce;Kelly's wedding.......
Yes, as she so often reminded me,He will indeed uphold thee with the right hand of His Righteousness.
She knew alot, this uneducated Dutch grandmother of mine. Her wealth lay in her love of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would say she was the richest of the rich!
When you get to Heaven, take a number and get in line, because alot of folks are waiting to meet her!

SKY PAINT!

As I looked across the sky tonight,I noticed a streak of white above the ocean.
I guessed one of the jets was flying high and leaving a trail of smoke behind. No sooner had I spotted its trail, than a flock of birds flew by in the evening sky, going in the opposite direction. The darkened sillouette was stunning against the twilight sky.Their "V" formation left a few smaller birds trailing behind, and yet they still far outshone the trails of the jets!
Only our Majestic God could have created such a masterpiece!
Man just comes up with an airplane!

I AM.....ARE YOU?

I lived in a large house that my Father built when I was born.My brothers and sister had a room upstairs and I had a room downstairs closer to Mother and Daddy. We had a basement; a patio, and a garage.I always felt safe and secure in this house, and knew that my many blessings came from above, because my parents stressed this. Infact,my entire family understood this concept.
I guess this is why, having a President who did not have his "White House family",participate in the National Day of Prayer, just broke my heart! This only confirms my thoughts that as the end times approach, the darkness does not like the truth!
I'm not sure what it will take for us to wake up and be a family of believers again.....
There are too many radical people around, who seem to think they are in authority, but who do not know who is really in authority over us all!
When He has finally had enough of all this garbage going on in this world, and our leaving Him out, then we had better watch out, and be ready!
I am,are you?

THE CHURCH PLANT

Grandmother Bouterse had a beautiful red Amaryllis Lilly, that was planted when I was born.It bloomed outside of her trailer when I was a little girl, and it now blooms at the base of my front steps. The only difference is that the red color has faded over the years into a pale whitish-pink.I brought this lilly with me from Aiken in remembrance of Grandmother, because as its color fades,it reminds me of her, and it reminds me that the word of God never will fade! It stands the same shade forever!
My love for Grandmother Bouterse will never fade either.
Her words may dim as time goes by,but the word of God stands forever!
That's what you call a "church plant"! :p)

JAMBLE

Jenn and I have been playing an online game of Scrabble, called "Jamble". for several weeks now, and she has been beating my socks off! This is to challenge my brain, but I'm not sure how much of a challenge I am. It's fun, and I'm trying to come up with words where I can score more points, and yet place them where they are correct!
It's more important, though, for us to be accurate in our account of God's word, when we are dealing with it! You can't just inform people of things because they suit your own purposes,or you'll be in a "heapa" trouble,if you do!
God gave us His word, and we are not to change any of it........It stands alone!
......Sola Scriptura! He tells us what each words means, and we're to let scripture interpret scripture! That's a pretty good reference point.
We can make lots of words in Jamble, but the word of God stands forever and will stay the same yesterday......
Today.......and
Tomorrow!
Game won!
