While I was over at Edisto, I listened to Bruce Wilkinson on the radio, talking about the time he was over in India at a restaurant with his son, and felt compelled by God to leave an abundantly large tip for the waitress for two bowls of ice cream! He immediately understood why, when she returned, crying and asked if he knew Jesus, to which he asked her why?

She then told him that her landlord was going to evict her and her baby, that very day, if she didn’t bring him the exact amount for her two months rent!

Bruce had given her the exact amount that she needed!

She told him that only Jesus knew her problem!

~~~~As only Jesus knows all of our problems and tailor makes every solution to each one!
Jesus is not only knows the problem~~~
Jesus is the answer for the problem~~~whatever it is!
HOME
"It takes a heap o' livin in a house t' make it a home.
A heap a sun an shadder, an ye sometimes have t' roam
Afore ye preciate the things ye lef behind,
And hunger for 'em somehow, with 'em allus on your mind."
......"Home ain't a place that gold can buy, or get up in a minute.
Afore it's home, there's got to be, a heap o livin' in it!
(Edgar A Guest)
It does take a heap of living in a house to make it a home, but it takes the right kind of living to make it the right kind of home too!  No amount of money can buy this kind of hoe either. It's built on godly character that starts out as the foundation. When you leave home, you often do appreciate what you had at home too, and remember the fun times.
A STRONG FOUNDATION
Dr. Tony Evans came to speak to my church this past Thursday and Friday, as part of the 300th year celebration of St. Helena Episcopal Church's establishment as a church, and as our thirty year celebration.(No contest there!) His talk the first night, was on the importance of  establishing a good  foundation at the beginning of your life. His remarks started me to thinking.~~~~
It seems like everything in life, that God has given us, needs a good foundation, before the best benefits will be seen, When you plant a garden, you have to prepare the soil, so that the foundation for the veggies or plans will be aequate. When you build a house, you definitely have to prepare a strong foundation, or you will be flat on your back!  When you put on makeup, it's always best to put on foundation first, and if any fisherman wants to catch a decent amount of shrimp, he will bait the waters ahead of time, and make the  bedding foundation, more productive for shrimping!
God's word is no different! There has to be a good, strong fundation of His word, from the very beginning, for the word of God to take hold and grow into a life long stronghold!
Let God's word be somethig that you can come back to, again,~~~~and again!
A good strong foundation that will grow into something beautiful and eternal!
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
You can't tell anyone about a movie, until you have seen it.
You can't tell anyone about a new car until you have seen it or driven it yourself.
You can't tell anyone about a new home unless you first live in it and see it for yourself
In order to tell someone about something, you have to know something about it,~~~~right?
Well, it makes sense to me, that if you want folks to know about Jesus, you had better first know Him yourself, very well!~~~I mean really know Him! The odinary person will know the difference and will spot someone who just knows "about" Jesus, and the one who "knows" Jesus from the heart!
They will see how honest you were with your description of your car; your house;  but more importantly, how you describe about your Lord!
LEAVING YOUR MARK
Our dining room table was a unique table, when I was growing up. Daddy was not only an architect, but a builder too, and he built all our furniture, including the oak, parquet dining room table. It was a very heavy table where we all sat and ate our meals, for as long as I can remember. I think my brother, Chris has the table now. Often times, in the afternoon, when Mother was in the kitchen, fixing supper, I would sit at the table, along with my brother, Chris, and do my homework. Now, if you know anything about Oak, you know that it is a soft wood, so when I would write my math problems down, I would often write them too hard, and they would go through the paper and make an indentation on to the table. The only problem was, if I told Daddy that I didn't know how the marks got there, I would really get in trouble, because I had also written my name on the paper too! Guess who gave their identity away on the wood?
God has left us markers to follow in His word, and we can leave them for those who follow us. Keeping our focus on God and following His word will show up as a significant marker to those who follow in our footsteps. Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord, and you will be leaving your mark  for a world  that needs to know Jesus!
PROMISES OF GOD
Ofcourse my favorite story about being at Grandmother Bouterse's to spend the night, was when I had o take a shower down at bath house. This was before they had a bathroom in their trailer and we would have to take our towels and walk down this cement block walkway to the public bath house. Grandmother was so insistent that I not get germs on the bottoms of my feet when I stood over the shower drain, that she always gave me a newspaper to stand on. When I would complain that I would get newsprint on them instead, she would quickly say~~~~"yo're standing on the promises of God!
Made sense to me then, and makes sense to me now!
DICK CLARK
Well, our legend has died, and with him goes all our Beach Nut Spearmint Gum~~~~”Flavorific!”
Remember all those wonderful pigtails and bobby sox dancing on American Bandstand? Dick Clark had that well groomed all American boy look that seemed to appreciate and to welcome everyone into their living room at night!
I could sing that gum jingle with the best of them too! My Daddy like to chew “Chicklets”, but when Dick Clark was sponsored by Beach Nut Spearmint, then I started singing~~~~”Flavorific!” He was every girl’s dream of a celebrity!
I know we have to die, and he made it to 82, but at my age, you start think,~~~~ but “he’s not suppose to!”
Dick Clark was indeed a legend, but he was also just a man too.
Jesus Christ was also a legend, but besides being a man, He was also the Son of God and took upon Him the sins of the world,~~~yours and mine,~~~just so we could be a legend too, and live forever with Him in Heaven!
He will never be forgotten either!
DOMINOES JESUS
Now, Dominoes Jesus was another story!
We played Dominoes Jesus alot at Grandmothers trailer, but it wasn't like the Dominoe games that they play today. Then we played out from all kinds of angles, and went all over the table, and we used the bonepile alot too. I do remember her telling me to try and connect the like dots with matching dots, because it was like matching people in the body of Christ as they came together in the Lord! They connected well with one another, and they scored more points together!
Made sense then, and makes sense now!
GUAVA JELLY JESUS
How in the word do you make Guava Jelly Jesus, I'm asked? It's quite simple really. atleast to a five year old girl. Place yourself in the kitchen of an old Airstream trailer and just pretend that you are a five year old girl who believes that she is sailing on a river boat, and her Grandmother is fixing her Guava Jelly on the stove for lunch! She shows her how to take cheesecloth and place the Guava pits into it before finally boiling it down, so as to remove all the impurities, just like Jesus removed all the impurities from our life when He died on the cross!
Made sense to me then, and it still does today!
THE COMPLIMENT
I had the nicest compliment paid to me about my David, today!
I went to my physical therapy at Carolina SportsCare, and Kevin came up and told me that he had just put two and two together and figured out who the David Lock was that had left them all the scout badges and paraphernalia for their scout troop. Jim Bradin had come out to the house and taken what their troop could use and when he displayeed it, he and the entire troop was overwhelmed by the amount of "stuff" that David had accumulated over the years! I have tried to tell people that my David loved scouts more than me~~~~and he did! For better or worse,~~~~AND SCOUTS!!!
Kevin said that the troop wants to make a big banner that will hang right inside the door which will commemorate his scout work and his love for the scouting program, both in Beaufort and all over!
What a tribute to a man who gave his life for boys who loved scouting!
FORGIVENESS
This isn't really a journey, folks, but instead are some lessons I have learned along my journey's way! They aren't easy, or fun lessons, but they are vital ones if you want to be content in your spiritual walk!
When you don't want to forgive someone, and yet you know you should, it is one of the hardest things you will ever have to choose to do!~~~Yet, if you follow what I am telling you, it will become so much easier.
If someone has done something to hurt you, or said something that you can never forgive, then this is for you! I've been there too, folks! When the God of the Universe calls you on the carpet and tells you to forgive them, then there's not too much else that you can do,~~~~ but forgive them! This is when you will see me get upset with people who say that they can't forgive. If I can forgive the lady who sued us her son's death, when she took the money and bought a boat and sailed up the east coast before she even bought her son a grave marker, then anyone can forgive anyone anything! Putting my reasoning aside, I think just because our Savior told us to forgive, and because He first forgave us, then we should just~~~~~ "do it!"
Do it, as unto the Lord, and offer it up as a sacrifice to Him and it will be a pleasing aroma as it drifts up to Him. Don't say you can't do it, because it's not you doing it. It's a God thing, and with God, all things are possible!
Especially Forgiveness!
GROWTH
When David and I first moved to Beaufort, there was a home that had just been constructed, outside of Kline, SC. What made this home so interesting, was that the driveway had been outlined with small Bradford Pear saplings, and as we drove back and forth to Aiken, and Beaufort, we could watch the progress of them as they grew. They graced the entrance to that home and were quite stunning as they grew and bloomed in the Spring. It took a long time for them to reach that stage though!
They always gave me a mental picture of the Christian on his walk as he grew in his faith. He is first planted in God's word and given Spiritual milk to feed upon, so he will understand at that level. As he continues to grow and mature in his walk, he will be given more substantial and weightier food to help him grow. He takes this food from the Bread of Life, so he can grow and produce many more mature blooms!
It took those trees nine years to fully bloom, and hopefully it won't take us that long for God to work His miracle in us!
WAR HORSE
War Horse, was a movie that portrayed the owner of a horse that had been trained from birth to respond to a certain type of human whistle from a very early age. Even after years of being apart,and even after being countries apart, that unusual horse could still respond to that certain whistle~~~even from the hundreds of men in the army camp! He recognised his owner and would respond to his master's whistle, no matter what!
This reminded me of the sheep, when they hear the Shepherd's voice. They will always know when He is calling too!
When we learn His word at an early age, we can carry it with us forever, and can recognise the Master's voice anytime, and come to Him!
