THE PERFECT GIFT

I remember the day, that my Daddy bought me, my very first car, in 1964! It was a black Plymouth Road King, complete with a running board, and the original tires, and paint job. It was considered an antique, but oh,how I loved "Francis"!....That's what I called him(Sir Francis Wallace) He purchased the car for me, even though I didn't deserve it, because he loved me......
I will never, ever forget what he did,or the gift.
Now, more importantly,I think about, how my Heavenly Father purchased my Salvation for me. It was, indeed,a gift, that I didn't deserve at all, for I have so much "sinful gunk" in my life, and yet, God chose Jesus to purchase this special gift for me anyway. He bought it with His life, because He loved me........
I will never, ever forget what He did,or the gift.
My car cost $150.00;pretty steep for my Daddy back in 1964.......
My Salvation cost Jesus His life; pretty steep for my Savior too,but priceless to me!
We need to do some heavy duty "thanking" on our next Father's Day....and each day too!

HOW I LOVE YOU LORD

When I go to sleep at night,I place my head on two pillows. I have a feather pillow, that sits on top of another, harder one, that sort of raises my head up a little bit. I feel as if I am resting my head on something special........
God's that way to me. He allows me to rest on Him, and place all my troubles at His feet, while my head rests upon the pillow of His shoulders.
My, what a loving God I have. He's just waiting for a visit from You too.
What are you waiting for?
Oh, how I love my Lord!
Becky

THE CATCH OF YOUR LIFE

I love it, when shrimpin' season rolls around!
I like to watch David make up his bait, and then throw out his net, along the sides of the dock, and just pull in the shrimp!.......good eatin'!!!
He has to use the bait, when he's casting, though, or he's not gonna get much of anything!
Now, when you and I , are seeking others, for the Kingdom, we likewise, have to use the right bait, when we cast our nets out as disciples for the Lord. This is our great commission........
to make disciples of men. First, though, we have to put something on, as bait. It helps, when
"we, as the lure" are filled with God's Holy Spirit, and joyful with His word.
When we cast our "nets of opportunities" out, we can encompass and cover many people, with a variety of activities, such as lunch, supper, a movie, a cook-out.....many ideas!!!
By giving each person this chance to meet together, you can "hook" them with the word of God, and boy howdee, will that be another "catch" for the Kingdom!
Just don't ask me to clean them!
Becky

WILL WE GO?

I was in amazement, today, as I read in Matthew, concerning Jesus, telling His disciples to go to Galilee. Now, they were in Jerusalem, and Galilee, was some 80-90 some odd mountainous miles north of Jerusalem, and they were just gonna turn around and head back to Jerusalem, so why did they go, in the first place?
Because,Jesus, their Savior, had told them to go!They had enough faith in Him, to know, if He told them to do something, then there was a pretty good reason for doing it!(I'm figuring on "obedience" folks!)
I'm also wondering, why we "hem and haw", and make up all kinds of excuses, for not doing, what God asks us to do?
Why don't we just go ahead and do what He says?
Becky

ALL IN ALL

As I stood in church, today, listening to Matt, direct the choir, I was completely overwhelmed, by the Majesty of our God. The choir just lifted their hearts up to the Father above, complete, with smiles on their faces.........and then,
"Jesus,Lamb of God,.....Worthy Is Your Name" echoed throughout the church, and I lost it!
I was so humbled, at how many times, You have become,
My strength, when I am weak.
How many times, You pick me up,
When I fall down.
Oh,........worthy is Your name!
Thank You,Lord, for using this beautiful music today, to melt my heart in worship.
You are definitely my all in all.........
Becky

1000 FACES

One of my favorite movies, was Jimmy Cagney's portrayal of Lon Chaney, in "Man Of A 1,000 Faces". He did a splendid job in his portrayal of so many different people, just by changing his disguises! Such talent, in being able to make you believe that he was that person. Disguises can do that to a person........
Sometimes, we put on our own disguises, when facing others, so that they won't see our pain, or hurts. We might be smiling on the outside, while our inside's are just a churnin' in pain!
Thank goodness, we have a Heavenly Father, who can see through those disguises, and, if we'll let Him, He'll guide us right out of that pain, and hurt, with His word.
He is a God of more than a 1,000 faces!
He is a God, who faces this disguise, head on......
And wins!.....................I like that!

PARENTAL GRACE

I think that this might be a new, eternal movie rating,
for all of us, if we'll only believe it!

"PG........Parental Grace"
from the Father above!

whatcha think?
Becky

CAUGHT YA!

Have you ever seen a deer, caught in your headlights, as it stands in frozen terror, staring at the lights? That's an awful, awful feeling, that I've had only once in my life, after 911, and I was absolutely helpless, and it was just a nightmare!!!
The older you get, the more you realize, that when you are living "in love" with the Lord, then that terror will vanish! Your entire being will pulsate with God's love and you will want to share with other's. He will walk the path with you, step by step, and when that "scarey" moment occurs again, He will be right there, to strengthen you, through the walk, or whisk you down another path.
What we have to do, though, is take a chance.......or rather, decide. Decide, if we are gonna take Him along, even though we don't always see Him, or not?
It's a pretty easy decision to me.......

GOD'S HAND IN THIS

Even though it's too hot to do anything, I'm still sitting outside, on the deck, just lookin' at the water. The Katydids, are revin' up their choral section. I just got to thinkin' about how our God always created the perfect "thing" for each and every one of us, and we probably didn't even recognize it!
If we are a seamstress, say, He will give us the finished product, in a dress, maybe, as our very own creation!(Can't get much better than that folks!) He allows the builder to create a house;or gives the painter his perfect picture. He has allowed His creation to create! (Bet ya never thought of that, did ya?) He has given each of us the talents, to use for our creating too, if we'll just use them! The final gift, is at the end of the process..........
When we take our eyes off of Him, we get lost, in what He wants us to do. He has given me the gift of writing,(among many other gifts) for which my journey's have popped out! Sooooooooo many gifts He has given!
Look at what you like to do the most, and then see if God's hand isn't in it, after all.......
Then, go do it!!!
Becky

MIRROR,MIRROR,ON THE WALL........

This was a neat journey today.............

As I looked into the mirror............I looked okay.
I saw a little bit of Christ looking back,
But still too much of me.

A few days later, and after some serious soul searching,
I looked into the mirror, and saw alot more of Christ,
But still too much of me.

With each passing day, that I spend in the word,
And meditate on You, Father,
I lift my heart Heavenward, in hopes of someday.
Being able to...........
Look into the mirror and see me looking okay, and saying,
I see "All" Christ looking back......
Oh,yeah!
Becky

I CAN HANDLE THAT !

This was a neat thought today!!!

When you are NOT a Christian:
You are born once, but you die twice!
(a physical death & a spiritual death from God)

When you are a Christian:
You are born twice, but you die only once!
(Now, I can handle that! How about you?)
Becky

IT'S A NEAT TIME !

It's past my "bewitching hour", or when I'm suppose to turn into a pumpkin, according to David! I'm just laying back here, in the bed, listening to the beautiful Sunday night music, on "The Light", writing some letters, and just talkin' to God.......
It's a neat time, too. I feel like too many of us, worry about every jot and tittle of extravagant worship now- a- days , according to what we have to do, or must do, to "keep up the appearances" of being a fairly steady, and solid Christian, when, in reality, if we would just zoom in on God, so we wouldn't miss His heartbeat, we'd be much better! I see a Mary and a Martha here..
They're both needed, but one has found the true meaning...........
I see a heart, and a pacemaker.
They're also both needed.
But if one stops, the other won't be needed....
Without Christ, everything else, just isn't worth much at all, is it?

CHARACTER

When my daughter was a little girl, she would often climb up on my bed at night, and share the experiences of her day, with me. She learned to bring her problems and experiences before the Lord, here, in prayer.
What seemed like insurrmountable problems, were really chances for her to grow in character. I know she must have become tired of all those "character building" experiences, because we are human, and we can only take "so much". That's why we have God........
Sadly, character isn't one of those things we can "wish" into existence. We have to go through the trials, and suffering to be refined.
We have to be strengthened , and the dross gotten rid of, so that we see the image of Jesus looking back from the mirror!
Becky

DELETE

Every so often, I'll check my computer, and it seems as if I have about a hundred emails, that David will have to come in and delete for me, once I've read them all! (I'm glad that he'll do it too.)You know, our Heavenly Father has taken all our sins, and deleted them for us too, and what's even more remarkable, is that He has chosen to remember them,"NO MORE"!!!
Now that is some God!
Becky

LIFE!

Just like a convict is given a life sentence,
We as believers of Christ, are given a
life sentence too!
Only ours is, an eternal life sentence!!!
(With a faithful God who loves us!)
Becky

YOUR EVERYTHING!

Have you ever noticed how people always like to throw out big, and celebrated names, just to make themselves seem more important?(Like,I had my picture taken, with the President!) It doesn't really make much difference who, or what we "think" makes us feel important, if we don't stay near God, or have Him as our very important "standing next to person", then our self worth isn't gonna count for much at all!
Now, how does this sound?
Step right up, and get your picture made, with the creator of the world?..........Oh, and by the way,He is also your friend, Your Father,Your Savior,Your Lord,Your King......Your Everything!
Becky

THE GOAL AT THE END

You know, when I started out writing these journey's, back in 2001, I was headed in a completely different direction. I planned to take different trips, and to relate how they could lead you to the Lord. Well, has God ever re-routed my excursions!
After seeing the "Passion of The Christ", my whole love affair with the Lord, was completely re-kindled. I thought about the phrase that Yamamoto said, after he realized that the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor before their demands had ever been known..........."I fear all we have done, is to awaken a sleeping giant". Well, sometimes, this "sleeping giant", known as Becky, wants to reawaken her love for the Father above, and shout it from the roof tops!(now that would look funny, huh?)
I think I have enjoyed the process of getting there, on my journey's, more than actually ending up where I was suppose to be! In the end, I'm sure I will be absolutely overjoyed being in the presence of my Lord, but for now, it's the journey that must satisfy!
He remains the goal at the end of the journey...........

EDISTO WAVES

I drove to Aiken today, to meet with Beth, and help Phyllis celebrate her birthday! What fun it was to watch her unwrap all the individual gifts that we had gotten her, as we ate lunch, at one of our favorite plaes...........Maliah's! (Yum!)
Such a special time to be together. I didn't know, that I was gonna have a double blessing, that day, when I returned to Edie's house, though, as another very special friend,Sally, brought over a quilt, that she,Marolyn, and Gail, started quilting for me, when I left Aiken, in 2003. It is absolutely beautiful, and is filled with sea shells, and love. Ofcourse, the tears flowed, especially, when Sally told me, that the pieces were done, in remembrance of our son David, who loved Edisto, and was dating her daughter, Amanda, at the time of his death. The name of the quilt, is "Edisto Waves".
It's a wonder I got through the afternoon,folks!
Only God can take all the pieces of our lives, and stitch them together, by using friends of all kinds; experiences, and our faith in Him. He then wraps that "Faith in Him" all around us, as a covering, joining us together as one......one body;one quilt, in Christ, but many pieces.........
And I like that. Won't you join us?

HE ALWAYS WILL...............

(I wrote this awhile back,but
this one's worth repeating,folk's!)

Don't chew your food, with your mouth open! Don't put your elbows on the table! Don't smack your food! Don't put your feet up on the couch! Don't drink the juice out of the container in the fridge! Don't smoke or drink! Don't drink and drive! Don't talk to strangers! Don't cheat! Don't talk! Don't trespass! Don't leave your room like a pig's stye! Don't slam the door! Don't slam the door!Just don't!!!
Have you ever considered how many "don'ts", we use on these special gifts, we've been given called "children"? Sometimes, it bears repeating, to be reminded, not to forget the most important "don't"..........
Don't forget,I love you!......very, very much!
Becky

****I so often think of the many "don't's", that my Heavenly Father must remind me not to do, and yet He always, always, tells me at the end,"don't forget,I love you"....and He always will!

TOUCH 'N' GO

It's touch 'n' go time, again,folks!
As I drove into town, late, this afternoon, the weather was soooooooo bad, it was filled with drizzle and overcast clouds. As I was driving in, amidst this dark, depressing scene, a fighter jet suddenly flew in, right out of the mist, overhead, with its loud noise, and approaching its touch 'n' go landing. Now, just as he was about to land, the "Light" came on the radio, with its beautiful rendition of:
"Jesus,Lamb of God,Worthy is Your Name!" Wow! Did this ever make me think how my heart would feel when Jesus comes back, with this loud fanfare, and then the sweet, sweet, melting of my heart, as I see His face..........
Becky

HOW IN THE WORLD

My friend,Pat, in Aiken, whom I send books to, often asks me, where in the world, I come up with all my ideas for what I write about? Well, I did do some deep talking with the Lord, after she wrote me, and asked Him, to please keep sending these thoughts on to me...........(because I'm figuring they're comin' from Him!)
Well, folks, He has been sending things on, soooooo fast to me, that I barely have time to write them down!
He is such a faithful God, and has allowed me to look at things in all kinds of neat ways...........
Mostly, it will be a very simple way, because, that's the way this 'ole girls' brain plugs along!
Becky

SOOOOOOOO NICE!

Sooooo nice, this morning, as I lie in bed, listening to God's variety of alarm clock's outside.
There's the chirp, chirps, and the twirp, twirps, but they are distinctly different and I don't usually hear them, except when I'm in Aiken, or at Edisto! It's funny, how in Beaufort, I get to witness all the magnificent colors of birds, whereas, in Aiken, and Edisto, I am treated to a symphony of sound! What a treat our Lord gives both senses. He is such an awesome God!
Mmmmmmmmm,so nice today!
But then, everyday, with Jesus, is better than the day before..........(or was that a song?)
Becky

STAY CLOSE

While driving back to Aiken today, I noticed a car, following close behind me. I was going the speed limit, and wasn't about to change my mind and speed up, just to please the person behind me! If he was in such a hurry, he could go around me..............
I decided, that this kind of determination, was kind of nice in some areas, though. Like, on our walk with the Lord......... If we will stay close to Him, and not move, or change directions, when someone else comes along, , then we can be like that driver today, and have people passing us in life, going "who knows where", but we'll be sure to know where we're going, because we've followed close behind the Father!!!

MY STORY

God sent His Son,Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins...........(How?)
His Son, gave up His life, for us, when He died on a cross, so that we could have Eternal Salvation, and spend Eternity, with Him in Heaven............(Why?)
An added bonus, was that all our sins were forgiven, and we get to meet, and know God!................(Who?)
That's my story, and I'm stickn' to it!
Becky

GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS

As I began my quiet time tonight, I noticed a frequency with certain things, that I was forgetting, and I was truly becoming distressed over this...... You see, with a grandmother on one side, having Alzheimer's, and having my own Mother have Dimentia, it was a little too close for comfort, for this 'ole girl, and I was beginning to panick!.......
But then, that "little voice" that always manages to shout through my thick headedness, reminded me, that You did not give me a Spirit of fear. I picked up the phone, and called Trisha and then Joy, and they both immediately prayed for me, over the phone, and reminded me of God's faithfulness. Joy reminded me too, of how satan loves to visit with those "fearful thoughts", when you are trying to spread His word.
She suggested I post a "NO TRESPASSING" sign, for satan to see, and I liked that idea!
So, from now on,when I get to that point, where, I'm "forgetful " again, and I'm sure I will, I'm gonna say:
NO TRESPASSING SATAN! NOT TODAY!NO MORE!..........and then I'm gonna sing, in a voice that only God could love...."Great Is His Faithfulness!"
Becky

BY FAITH ALONE

UhOh! Another profound thought!..........

If you wanted to be sure, that your new home had an area in it, designated for a walk-in pantry, you would check with the architect, and his blue prints, wouldn't you?
Or if you needed to find out what particular song was being played during a symphony orchestra's rehearsal time, you would ask the writer of the song, or the conductor, now, wouldn't you?
(Chances are, the conductor probably knows who the writer is, anyway.........)
Well, the same is true, when we are told that we can accept the "gift" of Salvation by Faith!
With whom do we need to check this out?
Why, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Afterall, He's the one who said it to begin with, and if He said it, then we need to believe it!
Becky

Have you everlooked at a Buzzard? I mean, really looked at a Buzzard up close? They look like they think, that they are the most stately of birds, as they prey upon their victims on the side of the road! They don't seem to want to work for what they get...........they just feed off of the misery of others! I guess that's why Buzzards remind me ,so much, of the devil!
Buzzards wait on the sidelines, for something to happen, and then they strike the weak hearted....
Satan takes advantage of those who are hurt too, and he devours their every weakness! You can't just "shoo " him away, either....
Next time, try calling out the name of Jesus, and see how long he stays around then???
Wonder if He'll work on Buzzards?

HAPPY 4TH

May our country never become like the Israelites, when they took their freedom so lightly, and forgot who gave them, their liberty to begin with!
May we continue to look to our Heavenly Father, and give thanks, for the many blessings, that He has given us, and will continue to give us, as long as we acknowledge Him, as our Lord..........
Have a Happy and Thankful 4th of July, everybody!...........

THIS IS IT!

This is the neatest thought. It just hit me as I went to bed, last night!

God loved us, so much, that He gave up, His most prized possession.........."His Son". He did this, so we could be with Him!
Now, get this.......
His Son, also, loved us, so much, that He gave up His most prized possession........"His life". He did this, too, so we could be with Him!
I mean, it doesn't take a rocket scientist, to tell me, that my Father God, and His Son, Jesus Christ, love me.....and you, soooooooooo much, and want us with them for eternity.
NOW WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT IT?
Becky,
