HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

She was the "Mama" of an Norwegian-American family living in San Francisco, in 1910, and her story is told through the eyes of her daughter, Katrin. It is like looking through my own family album, filled with memories of love and sadness, because she reminds me of my own grandmother.
There was an Aunt Jenny, and Aunt Trina, and of course, Uncle Gunnar.
(Mine would be Aunt Virginia; Aunt Mary, and Uncle Howard!)
Katrin remembers her Mama with love and affection, thus the title of the show:......."I Remember Mama"!
As each of us remember our Mama's, this Mother's Day, let's give thanks to God for their love and affection too. No matter how far away they are, or how old, give thanks that God gave them to you.....
Christ thought so much of His own Mother, that the last act He did from the cross as He looked down at His Mother, was to charge the "one that He loved," ......to behold your Mother!
Now that is remembering His Mama with love!
Happy Mother's Day!

OPEN THE GIFT?

During the Christmas holidays, it's always nice to exchange gifts with friends, so each year, at the beginning of January, I start my Christmas shopping and I will buy two or three gifts a month, for four months, or until my shopping is done. This way, I can concentrate on getting just the right gift for my friends and family! Jennifer likes coffee, so I may get her some special brew of the "nasty stuff", while Nellah likes Christian writings, so I may get her some pretty sayings in Calligraphy......Whatever strikes my fancy at the time, but it will be tailor made just for them!
It's fun to open those gifts at Christmas too, however the best gift, is the one we are given by our Heavenly Father. He wrapped it in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, just for us too!
Will we open the gift?

THE INN

One of the movies I loved growing up, was "The Inn of The Sixth Happiness." I loved any movie that dealt with the pursuit of individual happiness for different cultures, and the children in that movie just stole my heart!
In our pursuit of happiness....true happiness, we have to seek after the Lord's direction, and follow Him with gusto! I'm not going into the next life with a "ho hum" attitude......... I am going to pursue God's joy!
The believers pursuit of happiness begins at the Cross, and in our pursuit of happiness, we will find an eternity of sheer blissful joy thrown in!

INDIAN GUIDES

Kelly and her Daddy had the neatest relationship. He did a lot with her and tried to teach and instill in her some wonderful principles. She even learned at an early age how to change the oil in her car......something her Mother doesn't even know how to do to this day! He did this all because he thought it was important to take time with her and to give her worth in her Father's eyes, and in the eyes of man. They were both part of the YMCA's "Indian Guides" program and he was dubbed "Roaring River", while she was "Sparkling Water".
Quite appropriate, if you ask me!
The went on many camping trips, and Kelly no doubt, had the best camping expertise available!
God has richly blessed me with this gift of a Father's love for his daughter.
Not every young girl has a Daddy who will take the time to teach them what they need to know, and yet still be able to admonish in love.
David Lock was all about family and loving his family he did!
God is all about loving family too!
If God were in the Indian Guides program, I bet His name would be "Strong Tower", and we would be "Help".

HIT THE MARK

For those having trouble understanding the concept of reaching God, this might help......
The definition of a sinner is someone who doesn't reach the mark, so
try giving an ordinary man a bow and quiver, and tell him to try and shoot at two targets way in the distance. Tell him the targets represent: "you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart; mind, and soul," and the other target represents: "and you shall love your neighbor as yourself". Next, tell him that he has all day to try and shoot at those targets and you will be back that afternoon to see how he has done. Only when you come back that afternoon, you find that all of his arrows have fallen into the sand, short of the mark!
Such as it is with the Kingdom of God. We can try and try, again and again, but we will always fall short, when we do things on our own steam.
That's why God knew He would have to give us His awesome gift of Grace!
He reached the mark for us, so we don't have to!
I never was good at archery, anyway!

HE IS

You say that you don't see how God could be Jesus and God at the same time?
Well, I don't see how He could either, but I'm trusting that He is God, and that He can do anything that He wants, and that if He says He is God and Jesus at the same time, then He is, and that settles it!

UNCLE WALT

When I was in the fourth grade, The Orlando TV station had a television program called "Uncle Walt". It came on every afternoon, and featured Crusader Rabbit and Tom Terrific. What was so neat about this show, was that they would have local children on it from nearby counties. One year, for my birthday, my parents decided to do that for me, only when that day arrived, all my friends were on TV, and I was sick in the hospital!
I had to miss my own celebration, and I was really sick over that!I had to watch them having all the fun, and I couldn't do a thing about it!
Someday, Jesus will have a big celebration for his family of believers too, and that's one celebration I will NOT miss!
Uncle Walt gave them Dandee Bread and milk for their snack that day, but when we are at the celebration with Jesus, we will have Living Water and The Bread of Life to feast on!
Doesn't get any better than that!

LAKE OF FIRE

There has been only one person who was too bad to spend eternity in the House of the Lord, and God in His mercy, even furnished a place for him to spend eternity too...
It's called The Lake of Fire and Satan will dwell in the house of fire forever!

PASSOVER

The day of atonement was when man did something about his sins!
Passover was when God did something about man's sins!

He passed over our sins and with the blood of the Lamb, He erased their mark on the door posts of our lives......

TOTAL RECALL

After my brain hemorrhage, it was most important for me to do things that were familiar to me. I now go through a routine every morning, because it is familiar to me and it's comfortable to my brain. My brain remembers it and knows what to do!
In the same manner, even without having a brain hemorrhage, your brain will recall the word of God, when you need it, because the Holy Spirit is familiar with it, if you've studied it.
You can become so familiar with God's word, that when you are in a tricky situation, your brain will remember that comforting word of God and bring it to mind.
Talk about total recall!

THE POWER OF THE CROSS

The very first time I saw the Passion of the Christ, I was all by myself, in a theatre in Aiken. I remember watching the flesh being torn off of my Savior and repeatedly saying at the end....."Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!" Oh my, did I ever hurt when I saw the movie, the first time it came out.
That was one powerful movie!
Now, after all these years, and having gone to Israel, and having gone to see the Atlanta Passion Play along with singing in the Easter musical, I have watched it again on television, and it has hit my heart once again!
I cried my eyes out for what was done to my Lord!
Guess it wasn't such a powerful movie after all, but, instead it was the power of the cross!

CROQUET

When I was a little girl, my brothers and I played a lot of Croquet. We had fun playing games back then on our lawn, and we played basketball; tennis; Badminton, along with all kinds of outdoor games. I loved trying to play Croquet and getting that little ball into those wickets, but I wasn't very good. I would hit and hit but it just wouldn't seem to go in. It seemed to be to narrow for me to make it.
I imagine that's how some folks will feel one day on the road to Heaven. They will try and try, even though they know they haven't been very good, but they just won't make it, because the road is too narrow.
Then they'll probably throw down their mallets and say the game is over!
When, if they would pick up the cross, they would see that they could go right through!
Becky

THE WORD

In the beginning was the word, and the word was God, and the word was with God......
Won't it be nice one day, to snuggle up real close to the word, and know that you are snuggling up close to God?

TREE OF LIFE

We had the prettiest Wisteria growing in our back yard, when I lived in Aiken. I always thought it was beautiful to look at, but Heaven help me, if I tried to plant anything near it, because the root system from the Wisteria vines literally took over everything in its way and choked it out!
Satan has this same effect on us when we come in contact with him. He can be packaged in an appealing manner, but let him get his choking tendrils around you, and you won't stand a chance, save the power of the cross!
When you plant your feet in the firmer soil of God's word, then those choking roots that will ultimately lead you only one way...... unto death, you won't be pulled down!
You will be able to stand by the Tree of Life where well springs of Living Water will "reign" forever!
Becky

PLANNED PARENTHOOD

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty certain that a believer can believe in Planned Parenthood!
Afterall, the Creator of the Universe had the best plan for parenthood......
Only we just didn't want to follow it!

RELATIVES

If memory serves me right, I believe that Jesus told us we would be persecuted for the word of God. In fact, throughout history, there have been multitudes of Christians who have been persecuted for their belief in God.
God's word says that the persecuted man will be blessed when he is persecuted for His name's sake! So, it sounds like we are to expect it folks!
If this is true, then I wonder why we are so surprised when there's a national election, and the media, or even the public, so eagerly tears apart and persecutes someone who tries to stand for God's word?
Sounds kinda like the relatives of those who didn't believe in God in years past, are visiting us today! Kinda like the sins of the Fathers are visited upon the children, huh?

THIRST QUENCHER

When I was a little girl, and wanted something that would really quench my thirst, Mama would always give me a tall glass of ice cold "Coca Cola", and nothing else would do to satisfy my taste, or quench my thirst. It had to be Coke......Not Pepsi! Not Seven Up!............. Only Coca Cola would do!
Of course, back then Coke was all new to me, and as an adult today it still refreshes me!
If I want something that will really quench my thirst though, I won't get Coke. I will go to God's word and get His Living water, and see it really quench my thirst! He enables me to thirst after His righteousness and it will strengthen me to seek after His godly word.
I don't need ice with it either, and it fills me up every time!
Plus, it's free!

ONCE WAS OLD....NOW IT'S NEW

As a young girl, I loved to rearrange furniture. I would move Mother's furniture around, so much, that she would think she was in another home!
I still did it in Aiken too, and would have continued doing so when I moved to Beaufort, but we didn't have any rooms to put the furniture in!(lol)
Our God is the Master Rearranger with our lives too. He has allowed me to both paint on clothing, and to teach Physical Education, all in the same year. He even allowed me to own two businesses where I could paint on clothing, and teach tumbling in the back of the store. I enjoyed writing poetry but it was always on the back burner, of my list of more important things to do! Then God allowed a Brain Hemorrhage to come into my life, and He completely rearrange my entire curriculum! I no longer have the desire to paint like I did, nor do I wish to teach Physical Education, (much less school) My physical abilities won't allow me to do any of the things I was so good in doing, ten years ago. I had perfect balance and did handsprings; flips into splits, and could still walk on my hands at age forty nine......but then this hemorrhage into a two month coma wiped me out, and now I can't even ride a bike or do a head stand, much less keep my balance, but you know what???
God is faithful and will not suffer us beyond what we are able.....
With this handicap, or what I thought was a handicap, He chose to give me the gift of writing! He has allowed me to start on, and continue with, the writing of these journeys through the guiding of the Holy Spirit, and it has been the coolest trip ever!
Afterall, we are new creatures in Christ, so I guess my writing, which was old, can now be new!

GOD'S SHELTER

A week and a half ago, a dear sister in the Lord, gave her fourteen year old son back to God, because of a blood clot . Danielle spoke in our Sunday School class yesterday, and asked for strength for her and for her focus to remain on God. When folks marveled at her ability to do this, I said, God had her right where He wanted her. She is under His wing right now, and she can do all things through Christ, because He will strengthen her. Her testimony, at this time, will touch more people than any sermon!
He will give His angels charge over her, and they will direct her every move. She has enough love for our Lord within her, to know that the Holy Spirit will guide her footsteps during this time. Those who do not know Christ will see His evidence in her throughout this entire ordeal, because she has allowed Him to permeate her whole character right now!
Danielle is a pretty remarkable lady, but then she loves and serves a pretty remarkable God!
This is a numbing time for any Mother, who has to give a child back to God. It's as if you have a blanket wrapped around you. In reality, it's the shelter of God's wings that are wrapped around you! When Danielle gets a tad bit stronger in the weeks and months to come, God will place her in the shadow of His wing. It's still safe and secure there, but it's not quite as dark! When He's sure she can stand by herself, and He'll know when, He will once again place her out into the full "SON"!
God bless these Mom's and God bless our God!

MOANING & GROANING

When you lose someone, you go through a period of morning where you might think you are okay, but your body knows that it's still in morning and react differently! It's a strange feeling, but then when you look at how the elements mourn over this fallen world, it's not so strange at all! Scripture even tells us that after the fall, the mountains will cry out for the redeemer to restore this world to what it once was! They moan and groan for the universe to be as it was in the Garden of Eden.
For that matter, I would think that we all would be moaning and groaning for the Redeemer to restore us as we should be too!
Come Lord Jesus Come!

EVERYTIME

Every time we go through the valley, doesn't necessarily mean we are experiencing something bad.
Sometimes, God is trying to teach us a valuable lesson, and the valley is the best place for us to learn it!

ONE DAY

One of the saddest parts about this trip to Israel, was what some of the Israeli people thought about Americans. I discovered that some of the shop keepers thought that most Americans didn't take the time to be with their families, nor did they appreciate their children, and life in general! When I asked where they got this opinion, I was told that they had seen it in the American movies, and on TV, and all of Hollywood and New York! I was so disgusted with how Hollywood has portrayed all of the fine, true down to earth, American people, and I told them so too. I told them that most of the American people are really true, kind people, who love the Lord; their families and friends, and are kind to other people too. I told them not to be deceived, but to know the real thing, because one day there would come another one that would try to deceive them in a bigger more dangerous way, and they needed to know what was true! I told them to make sure they knew scripture down to every jot and tittle, so that they wouldn't be deceived, when that day came.
I feel sorry for Hollywood on that day!
