BRUNSWICK STEW

When I make my Brunswick Stew, I fix a mock one, that’s just as good, but much easier for me to prepare. I take left over shredded pork, and mix it together with my left over butter beans; stewed tomatoes, and niblet corn. I pour in a tad of Worcestershire Sauce and let it simmer for about fifteen minutes. I serve it over rice and it is delicious! When you take something left over and combine it with what you already have, you have something new!

That’s the way the body of Christ works too. When you take “leftovers", or folks who have been grounded in the body of Christ for a while, and mix them together with new flavorings and new additions, then you have the most delightful presentation offered showing what the body of Christ is suppose to look like! Add your gifts to the body of Christ and watch what God does to make that church grow. He will bless your socks off!

Take God’s word and simmer it for a good while. Stir in a tad of patience, and when you serve it, add a spoonful of His grace, tempered with mercy, and smile when you are doing it!

This gets ‘em every time!

FREEDOM

As I slipped into bed tonight, that wonderful sound came thundering over the
house! That sounds of the jets in their flying formation of touch and go that I
love to hear at night.....The sound of freedom!
It set me to thinking of what kind of sound might follow when the Lord returns
with a  loud shout!
That will be the sound of TRUE freedom!

THE SALKEHATCHIE HIGHWAY

I drove to Aiken today, but it was during the Hampton Watermelon Festival, so I
decided to take an alternate route to drive.  I chose to go on the old Salkehatchie
Highway, completely bypassing Hampton and coming out in Brunson. None of the
roads seemed familiar to me, and I had to stop and ask a truck driver if I was on the
right road. He told me to make two lefts; go over a RxR crossing and turn right, and
 I would be in Brunson. Then, I would be fine! I had no idea where I was, but was
trusting n his directions to get me on the right road again!
Jesus is just like that with us too! We don't always  understand where He's leading us
but if we will trust Him, He will always get us to the right place at the right time,
~~~and not a minute sooner!
If you wait on Him, you won't take too many unecessary detours either.
B-12
I have been feeling so run down lately, that when Cathy told me that Elaine had a B-12 shot and it picked her up, I thought I might try and get one again too. The last one I received, a year ago, really helped me, so I decided to stop by Low Country Medical and see if they would give me one. The nurse said that someone my age should really have one every couple of months, if they are run down, until they can get their stamina built back up. I was so surprised, but if it will help, I’m all for it!
Jesus knew we would get run down and become lax in our faith too, so He told us to not forsake meeting together. He knew that our mental stamina and well being would build back up when we met back together, and spent time in the word.
His word is the Heavenly shot that will last for eternity....and I’m all for that too!
HOW COOL IS THAT?
You know, if the day comes, when I don't remember where I am, or who I am,
 or if I don't remember who my friends are, I can take comfort, in the fact that
 the Great God of the Universe will always know me, and He will never leave
me, nor will He forsake me! He knew me even before I was in my Mother's
womb and He wonderfully and beautifully knit me together while I was in her
 womb, so He knows me ever so well! Just think, when we come to that place in
 our lives where we feel so all alone or where nothing is familiar to us, there will
 always be God who will remember us and be familiar to us, because He knew us
 before time began!
How cool is that?
PICK UP STICKS
God takes your life, which is scattered, like the game of "Pick Up Stcks,"
and with one move on the cross, straightens them out!
HE'S GOD
Every year, Grandmother Bouterse use to make me a dress, for elementary school.
She used her little black Singer Sewing Featherlight Sewing Machine, which is
what I learned to sew on. I have it now and it reminds me of her, because there is a
 piece of her plaid red  dress on the arm of the machine that has her pins and needles
 still attached to it! It is a reminder to me of how many times she used it, and her love
 for sewing.
Jesus gave us a knew life too. He left us the Bible; the church; the cross; communnion;
Christian Friends; Prayer and so many other things to remember Him by.
When I moved, I took my Singer Featherweight with me.
When I go anywhere, I can take Jesus with me!
He's portable! He's indispensable! He's everlasting! He's eternal!....He's God!
GREATNESS
Just as Jacob called out to God to save him from Esau,
we can also call out to God to save us from satan too!
Jonah ran; was swallowed by a fiah and turned white!
Noah lived through the first flood and had never experienced rain before!
A small shepherd boy slays a giant and becomes a King!
 Sometime in their life,they all called out to God to save them.
 That's what made them men of wisdom and greatness!
WELCOME HOME
George and Melissa took the grands to the airport today, to fly back to South
Dakota, just so they could spend the rest of the summer with their other
grandparents. I didn't realize they were leaving this soon, and didn't get to tell
them goodbye, which makes me sad. I can always email their other grandmother
and tell her to tell them hello and to give them my love.
This was the perfect picture to me of when a loved one dies that we know will be
 going Home to Christ. We may not have had time to tell them "goodbye: either,
but knowing our Lord's compassion, I feel sure, He would open His arms and
welcome them Home, with a big "Hello", and give them our love too!
He's just that kind of God!
THE WATER SNAKE
When Kelly was about nine years old, I took her down to my Mother's house
in Florida and let her go swimming that afternoon in Lake Gertrude. I was
sitting on the sand watching her, with her elbows in the sand up close to the shore,
 with her legs spread apart. I saw a black water snake wiggling its way up
between her legs, so I stood and firmly told her to "GET OUT OF THE WATER
NOW!"  To my amazement, Kelly quickly got out of the water with no arguement!
That was somethig too, because she loved the water. (She told me later that it was
because my eyes were as big as saucers!)
Something told her to trust in me, even though she couldn't see that snake.
It's no different with us, when we can't see what God is doing, either.
We can't always see Him or know what He is about, but w can always be certain,
 that He is there!
Infact, He will be there when the world as we know it,..... ends!
And He will be there when the world, as we will know it,........ begins again!
McGuffey Reader
When I was growing up, the reader I used in elementary school was the
McGuffey Reader. I learned all about Jane, Dick, and their entire family.
I have wonderful memories of that reader and what the litle girl looked
like. I grew up on them and was sad when they took them out of the schools.
When I moved to Aiken, a lady moved in down  the street from my second
home who was the daughter of the man who wrote the McGuffey
reader. She gave me her doll that was given to her by her Father, which was
 the doll fashioned after the character in the reader!...... I was thrilled!
I had read the McGuffey reader and now I had met the author's daughter!
One day, we will be able to say that we have read the Bible, and we have
 finally  met the author!
Now, that will really be thrilling!
WATERPISTOL
We can attack hell with a water pistol, if God is holding the gun!
THE TWO BECOME ONE
"And they shall become one flesh....." After 37 years, I am seeing just what that
term truly meant, and now I am entering a new phase in my own life!I
I am rediscovering just who I am.  I have  been the other half of my better half
for 37 years and I honestly don't know who I am anymore, so I wil be on a quest
to rediscover myself again. I have been so much apart of my David, or one with
him after that many years, that I don't know where he ends, and I begin!
He left me so much of his character, that I don't know what is his and what is
mine anymore.
I'm on  a mission to rediscover Becky again, so bear with me folks. I was
married to one terrific fella who drove me crazy lots of times! (lol) God  knew
that only David would help me through the loss of a child, and see me through
 a brain
 hemorrhage and would leave me financially secure when he went
Home to the Lord!
Too many folks missed out on the better part of David Lock, because they
 couldn't see  past the rough outer exterior. If they had looked just a little
farther, they would have seen the best example of high integrity and honest
character a person could possess.
Yes, we became one for those short 37 years, but  I like to think that I will
try to represent his character while he is gone.
God has been so gracious to me!
ANDIRONS
Allen and Theresa built a new cottage on their farm, which is close to the
 shooting range, and when he  put in the fireplace,  he made sure that it
would fit around the andirons that David had given him.....
Even before the house was built, the andirons were in!
When Jesus gave us a new life, He made sure it fit around, and stood firm
on the ground of Grace by faith!
The outcome would be that we could walk through His door of Salvation
and spend an Eternity at Home with Jesus!
