LEAVING YOUR MARK
Our dining room table was a unique table, when I was growing up. Daddy was not only an architect, but a builder too, and he built all our furniture, including the oak, parquet dining room table. It was a very heavy table where we all sat and ate our meals, for as long as I can remember. I think my brother, Chris has the table now. Often times, in the afternoon, when Mother was in the kitchen, fixing supper, I would sit at the table, along with my brother, Chris, and do my homework. Now, if you know anything about Oak, you know that it is a soft wood, so when I would write my math problems down, I would often write them too hard, and they would go through the paper and make an indentation on to the table. The only problem was, if I told Daddy that I didn't know how the marks got there, I would really get in trouble, because I had also written my name on the paper too! Guess who gave their identity away on the wood?
God has left us markers to follow in His word, and we can leave them for those who follow us. Keeping our focus on God and following His word will show up as a significant marker to those who follow in our footsteps. Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord, and you will be leaving your mark for a world that needs to know Jesus!
