I WILL BE WITH YOU

He has said, when we pass through the waters, He will be with us. I can pray,Lord, that those that were in the Tsunami, or lost at sea, or went down in the depths, knowing and believing in You, had You by their side, all the way to Heaven!
You have told us, that when we pass through the rivers,they will not sweep over us. Even here, on the Beaufort River,You are with me,Lord.I feel Your presence everyday.
Again, You've told us, when we walk through the fire, we will not get burned, and the flames will not set us ablaze!
Oh,Lord, even those 10 years ago, as that car caught on fire, and burned,I can claim that promise...........that even though, the outside of my son was charred, the true inside, was left unscathed, by Your deliverance of him into Heaven above.....

DEFEATED ADVERSARY

...........I remember hearing about a man in Texas, who was changing his flat tire, while he was stranded along the side of the road .While doing so,he accidentally stuck himself with the embedded fang of a Rattlesnake. He was, thankfully, close enough, to the city hospital, to receive an anti-venom shot...............even though the snake had long since died, there was still enough deadly "poison power" in just one fang, to cause rapid paralysis, and possibly even death!
...........You know, when we look at sin, and our chief, adversary,........satan, we know we can claim Victory, through Jesus Christ, that satan is a defeated adversary!
............Even though he has been defeated, he is still allowed to "attack and pursue" us in all his ways...........
............If we'll just remember to just call on the "ONE" who reigns over all, and He will "de-fang" him once and for all!!!

A GODLY MONUMENT

"Did you know, that when the Washington Monument was laid out, way back, in 1848,placed within it, was a Holy Bible? Such was the moral character of our country at the time.........However,
The most significant thing,in my mind, though, is something none of us ever sees. On the aluminum cap, on the very top of the monument, are written two words..........."PraiseDeo". They are 555' high, and face towards Heaven, proclaiming to this country, that "Praise God", we are His country,and we will remain that way, or die trying!"

Now, wouldn't you think,if we wrote something way back in 1848, that we would still think the same way today? Maybe we need to write"Laus Deo", or Praise God, on some of the corner posts of our homes, to remind ourselves of just how much we do need Him, and how much we have to be thankful for! Praise God!

PAVING THE WAY

After again, re-reading the story about the Good Samaritan, I marveled at how remarkable it was, that a man considered to be so unclean, and defiled,by many, was merely just being human, when he stopped, and showed merciful compassion on the fallen and hurt man along the roadside.
I know that Samaritan's were barely acknowledged back then, but this Samaritan,none the less, found it within his heart, to show mercy upon this hurting man, and rescue him..........
Could we do any less?
Do I find any similarities between this man, and another man, who was also defiled by many? One who was even mocked, spit upon, bruised, and scourged,and yet, still found enough compasssion in His heart to reach down into His heart,and rescue us?.....( this is the part that really gets me.....that in order for Him to do this, He knew His Father God, would have to turn away from Him, in that hour! Oh, how that must have crushed Christ!)
................And after His death, this man rose from the grave, to be with His Father, paving the way, for you and me, to be with Him for eternity.....
.........Sounds like the Good Samaritan knew Jesus,huh?

...............I think I must be a pack rat! I just love to save things, especially my Mother's old recipe's, and collectables, that belonged to her, or her Mother. There's just something special about saving something, and setting it aside for someone..........
Ofcourse,this pales,in comparison,when I think about all the examples, in the Bible, of how God saved His people. As the disciples were about to sink in their boat, they called out to the Master, to "save us", and He did! So many times,we read of God rescuing His people,over and over,on a daily basis. He used the good Samaritan, to rescue the man on the side of the road, but He,himself, rescued the adulterous woman....sometimes He will use us, and other times He will do the saving.We need to be ready,when He calls us!
The supreme rescue,though,was when He saved us from eternal judgement (yikes!) and presented us,blameless,before a Holy and perfect God, to live with Him,in eternity.
I don't know about you, but that sounds mighty fine to this pack rat!

THE FLASHLIGHT

While driving back to Beaufort from Aiken today,I mentioned to my husband, that I thought it was so neat, the way God only took us through the "Valley" of the Shadow of Death, and not actually into the ravages of death itself ! His reply to me, was that God was my "flashlight" in the darkness.
How right he was...............
Whatever the darkness may be.......... whether it be of depression;death;sickness;confusion, or anything that covers over your life, so that you just can't get a grip, or can't seem to "get going"..............try letting Christ be your flashlight,to illumine the way out of the "pit of darkness", and up into the "Son" of True Light!

Oh,Father, help me to take today, for what it is............

SPRING HAS SPRUNG! POLLEN TOO!

I just love
Spring! With the exception of pollen,I just love all the color bursting
forth;the new grass sprouting up;the show of color spilling forth, from those
"once dead bushes";butterflies flitting about;birds just twittering, as if
they were in competition with one another...........Even the cars on the
Whale Branch bridge sound "perkier". The Palmetto trees are swaying in the
gentle breeze, and it just feels right.Oh, how I love
Spring!
Fall and Spring were
always my favorite seasons,as a child, because you could "see" the changes, and
in Florida growing up, that was important, because I didn't have the chance to
see many seasonal changes,..........it all seemed to stay the same........just
like Christ's love.
It's always the
same,no matter what season!

Easter comes upon us, my many friends, I think about all the new beginnings,
sprouting up from the soil, into new life, and I can't help but think of the new
life we have been given, by the planting of Christ's life on a cross, and His
rebirth into the beautiful bloom of life that He is, to those of us who
believe.........

OLD AGE DIFFERENCE

I think I am finally becoming the person I have always wanted to be.My body hasn't quite caught up with me yet, though, and there are a few permanent frown lines left over from my childhood,I'm afraid. I've tried to be just a little kinder to myself, and not so critical of the things I can't do.
As long as I keep my Lord first in my life,I can pretty much do those things I never had time to do! I have witnessed a dear, dear friend, leave this world, way before she ever understood what aging was all about, leaving behind a selfless legacy...........
If I choose to dance to my 50's music, then so be it; or if I have forgotten something important.............Well, then,some things just need to be forgotten anyway! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
As the years go by,your heart will get broken.........it just will, but those "breaks" are what build our character and compassion. That's important to me..........and Jesus. I no longer have to frost my hair.God does it for me now, and I love it! I actually do enjoy being an older woman. I don't bother myself with what everybody is thinking, and "on occasion",I let myself be wrong, just to see what it feels like.(HaHa) I can laugh and smile now,without people wondering what I'm up to!
With what time I have left here, on this earth, I will not dwell on the past, nor mourn those who have gone on;nor will I live in the "what could have been, time zone". I will make a difference, in being old..........
But, only, if I remember to take my Lord, and Savior,Jesus Christ, along with me..........He IS the difference!

THE PERFECT ZIP CODE!

..........After my father died, his wife,Jean, mailed me the envelopes of some letters he had mailed to my mother during world war II.He had written and drawn pictures, with the addresses on the envelopes, and she had laminated them onto a sheet of paper, and sent them all to me. He had drawn caricatures on the envelopes, such as Superman, flying along, carrying a letter, addressed to:"Those Ray Kids, Mount Dora,Florida". He never included a post office box number, or zip code,(they didn't have them then!)but the men and women in the post office, knew who my brothers and sister were, and automatically delivered the letter to the correct address anyway!
........When I think about this though, I have to smile,because I imagine my Heavenly Father, seeking us out, and knowing, each of us, and our addresses.............even before we were born!!!
His would be a hard zip code to look up, but a wonderful one to look up to!

DISCIPLES TURNING POINT

I'm lying here in bed, this morning,(while at the beach) just smiling, as "Turning Point" has just come on the radio.
Such a nice thing to wake up to, and the words, of Dr. David Jeremiah................
Just imagine how the disciples must have felt, early in the morning, some 2,000 years ago, waking up to their personal "turning point", and listening to the words of Jesus?

WE CAME TOGETHER

.............We came together, from all walks of life, and there were only four of us, on Friday night, but a fifth one arrived on Saturday.
We came together, with one common bond.........to be together, and heal.If you met us individually,you'd probably think we didn't have that much in common, but you'd be wrong.......
..........We played Rummicube;We laughed;We remembered; We ate a huge, delicious supper, and we remembered some more. We made ice cream sundaes; We set our pictures out on the breakfront, and told stories..........and then we did some more remembering.
..............You see, we are Mother's, and wives. Mother's who have lost son's, and one Mother who has lost her husband. It's still a loss, no matter who it is. Some, as recently as several months ago. It's comforting to know, though, that we can still come together, and laugh,cry, and heal, because............
Because, we have a Savior, who made it possible, and He has given each of us, the strength to accept the past, and look to the future, knowing God is always in control.........
And I thank Him for that!

LITTLE STAR.......BIG SAVIOR

...........As I journeyed down the highway, I noticed all the different shapes of signs. There were square ones that seemed so sharp and rigid;circular ones,that just seemed to be going round and round, and in no particular direction........Each side of the triangle sign seemed to be trying to beat the other one to the top,while the squiggly line sign, just curved up and down!
You know, when we try to follow Christ's signs, sometimes we can become stiff, and rigid, like the square, or going in circles, over our beliefs! Many times, we try to outdo each other,because, we think we have to reach the top of God's list first,(NOT!) or perhaps we go up and down, as the squiggly line, either in the valley, or on the mountain top........
However,I think we have forgotten one sign, in particular.....
This would be the star......
...........It always seems to be a guiding light, pointing us to a little baby, lying in a manger, in a town called Bethlehem.
A little star, but a mighty big Savior, to do what He did for you, and me............

BOX OF CHOCOLATES

****Heading to Edisto Thursday with mom's who have lost children. (For my Journey friends. I will be back at the computer on Monday! )Enjoy the weekend!."B"

..........While driving into town today, Alistaire Begg came on "The Light", and mentioned the fact, that certain personalities were like the fillings inside chocolate candy. Well, mention the word, chocolate, to this 'ole diabetic, and I tuned right in!!! So many of us, do have these personalities too, like the fillings of these candies ......... some folks are soft in in their beliefs, like the marshmallow filled chocolates;others are filled with some nutty ideas in their walk, just like the nut filled chocolates; the fruit filled chocolates, are usually those with tastier, and more flavorful ideas.
..........All in all,though, I'd say, it takes the whole box of chocolates, tied up, with a beautiful bow, to make up a delicious treat. In the same manner, it takes all kinds of people to make up the house of God..........wrapped up in their belief in Jesus Christ, and tied together by the love of the Lord and His gift of Salvation!

THE BIG BOYS VS THE BIG MAN

.............The big boys were out again today!
As I was driving home from Curves today, my eyes were drawn to a series of "touch 'n' go" planes over at the airbase. As I drew closer to the landing strip,two huge, older planes(I have no idea what kind,folks!), came in close over head, for a landing..........So, now I had two sets of planes that my eyes were drawn too, as well, as driving down this " highway 21 raceway".Suddenly, brakelights were going on, everywhere! Police cars; ambulances; firetrucks......... Seems as if the jaws of life was trying to extricate someone out of a bad car wreck, right in front of me!...............and here, I had been watching the skies above all during this time, and not the road infront of me! (Goodness gracious sakes alive jumpin jehosephat jellybeans!)How in the world, am I to keep my mind on the right thing?
.........Father,help me to weed out the things that come flying into my life, from up high, or down low, and do away with them.I don't need them............

IS THIS ALL THERE IS?.............NO!

Remember that old song?...............(I think Peggy Lee sang it)
"Is that All There Is?" It kinda left you hanging, just thinking that this was all that life was about. Well, it doesn't have to be that way! There is "A" hope for all of us........... It's just as if we have a choice(and we do!),in who we want to be. I mean, if we want to grumpy, fine......but, if we want to make a change, and aren't happy with our past, or how we are perceived, then we need to look to God, because God has given us a way,(through His Son,Jesus) to change(He is "THE" hope!)..........."God has begun a good work in me and He is able to bring it to full completion." Yep! He loves us soooooooo much, that He even gives us a way to help us change the things we don't like about ourselves, if we but ask!!!
......Why, once we start thinking about this hope, and asking.........IN HIS WILL, we can change, into a new creation, one that people don't mind being around. Kind of a nice change, if you ask me,don't ya think?

SPIRITUAL INSURANCE

As followers of Christ, we have a special relationship folk's! We have a sort of "Spiritual Insurance", that only believers can take out. Our policy allows us to have an insurer, who will lead His agents to come to our assistance, when we need their help..... We also have the good fortune to be blessed with Christian friends, a caring church family, and a pastor who is devoted to God's word.
The investment that we put into God's house, today, can "pay off" dividends when we are in the "good hands" of the Almighty!

NOT 88.7......BUT GOD'S LIGHT

When you find yourself becoming sullen, and negative,over just about everything it's comforting to know, there is a way, to be delivered from those feelings! Everytime you begin to entertain those negative thoughts and feelings, just asked the Holy Spirit to step in and and convince you, that the "negative" is SIN talking in Capital letters, and it needs to be replaced with some of God's Righteousness! You can't do it by yourself anyway, for it's by the blood of Christ, that those negative thoughts, will be turned around, in your life! That's why He's there, and He will help you! Ask God to remold your mind, so that you will see the things around you in a new light............ a Christ like light! One that sees the good, the beauty and the joy in all that's around you......not necessarily because it is so perfect, but because looking at it, through "God's eyes", it all looks beautiful, and healthy!

LISTENING TO THE FATHER

I'm sitting inside right now, just gazing outside, at the beautiful blue water, green trees, and just listening.........
Listening to my husband talk to our daughter. It's just a father-daughter moment, when they both can just talk, listen, and be together. He's swinging in the swing, and she's leaning on the railing, just listening to his every word. They are painting a beautiful picture to me, of how we can look one day, when we will be sitting(or standing) at the feet of Jesus. We'll be listening, talking, praising,singing, and listening some more..........

RIVERS OF BLESSINGS

Have you ever been around somebody, even just for a minute,and they just simply "blessed your socks off", by being around them? You just want to stay around them all the time.........they smile; they laugh;they just make you feel sooooooooo good to be alive!!!
Sometimes, when I think of Christ,and His Living Water, I think about these certain people, and how, in some wonderful God given way, they have picked up on all of His "River's of Blessing's", that pour forth from His Living Water, and they just get it!!
.......They haven't missed His true gifts! They are all over the place, and these people just "know it and show it"!..........

PRESCRIPTION FILLED

As I refilled my prescription for seizure medicine today, I thought about all the medicines, I had taken, in my lifetime, and how, thanks to Dr. Susan Brown, I was finally given the right dosage once a day, to control these seizures. Ever since my brain hemmoragh, there has been some seizure activity in my "adorable" little brain!
..............It got me to thinking though, about the restraining dosage of Grace our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ gives to us. Can you even imagine what would happen to us, if He had given us, the full dose of medicine, we deserved, for all our sins? Yikes! Just think about it. He has tempered our sins, with His Grace, and not given us the full dosage.............
Instead of:"Take two aspirin and call me in the morning", He said
"I died for you.It's all done. You don't have to do a thing...........
Prescription filled!"

EMAIL.GOD

..........This is probably one of the neatest journey's for me! I have been blessed in my lifetime, to have an abundance of friends. Some, I have grown up with;Some from 25 years in Aiken; some I have met, since I moved to Beaufort, but one of the neatest I have experienced, is finding new friends, through the email!! Why, sitting in the airport, in Savannah, I met Marlinda, another sister in Christ, whose father I was given the priviledge of praying for, right then and there, and he soon went home to the Lord. After emailing back and forth, I was finally able to meet this delightful ball of energy, named Jacki, who clearly loves the Lord.........Now, Sandra, was a retreat speaker, and she is a gift to my heart from God. Then, there is Angie. Oh, what a delight she is, and I only know her through her "Thoughts For Today", and a picture of her on her mission trip.
The nice thing is, though, that someday, I will see her, and these others, when we all come together, above, and I'll know her, oh yes, and the others too.I am so thankful to my God for blessing me with so many friends. Past, present, and future, or as they said in Latin.....plu-perfect, or something like that.I forgot about my dear, delightful friends Ed, and Mike! I guess I could place them in the Plu-perfect category!

TADPOLES TO FROGS

My journey today, was out to an old farm, set up, on a hill, beside an old pond. The trek up the hill, found noone at home, so I meandered down to the pond, where I sat on the edge of a rock, completely mesmerized by the little tadpoles, wiggling their way about the shallow water.
I wondered how long it would be, before they turned into frogs..............what a transformation that would be! How like our Creator to take something like a tiny tadpole, and change it, into something creative, like a frog!
......Kinda reminds me, of how He takes us,in our "old selves", and with His Grace, changes us into "new, and better creatures" in Christ!I kinda like being a frog!)

GIVING AND RECEIVING

As a young girl,I was always taught, that it was "better to give than to receive." Sounds good, and on the whole, it's true, and well worth practicing, but you know, there is something to be said, for learning the art of being a gracious "receiver" too. I mean, for those of us, who are usually on the doing and giving end (and don't mind it!), it is quite hard to graciously accept a gift; a compliment;........just about anything!
Please bear with us, as we slowly learn this art, because, an art it surely is! It doesn't come natural to us. We are givers.........not takers........but God is working on us with this. He wants us to be able to receive the love, or the compliment...........or whatever, from others, as well, as giving it.
..........It just takes some of us a little longer to figure that out!

U-HAUL IT GOD!

...........On my way to church today, I passed by a big U-Haul truck, that was parked in someone's driveway. The residents, were busy moving the furniture from inside the house, into the truck outside! How fortunate they were to have that truck, to carry off those extra things.
............ I thought about, how fortunate we too are, having a U-Haul"ing" Savior, who will haul off our sins, and rid us of these bothersome, and nagging sins! He has packed these sins up, and clothed them, in His blood, and shipped them off,"as far as the east is from the west, and He will remember them no more."
............Sounds like a pretty good U-Haul job to me, don't you think?

THE VOICE OF THE LIGHT

Somewhere along the way today, I took a wrong turn............
and found myself on a dark, two laned asphalt road, enveloped in a thick fog. To make matters worse, I had turned off onto a four laned road in the middle of "I have no idea". I couldn't remember a 4-lane highway, anywhere, on my journey home. Suddenly, I heard that familiar voice on the radio. The voice that directed me to "The Light"............."The Voice and the Light", what a nice thing to come home to. It was then, that I thought about how, when I allow myself to become "fogged" in on my journey's, God will always break through the fog, with the voice of His word,and lead me out of the fog, and into His Light............Now I like that!

GOD: THE AUTHOR OF LIFE

.............I had some time on my hands today, just to reflect, and think about all of the catastrophies, that we have been experiencing lately. Why is it, that we are now experiencing Tsunami's;mountain mudslide's;wider ranges of forest fires;avalanches;earthquakes; and events that seem to be taking the lives of so many people, and wreaking all kinds of havoc, around the world?
.............As I pondered this question,I wondered, if God, in His Sovereignty, might.....justmaybe,be sending us a message. Perhaps one, inwhich He is trying to get our attention!!! One where, if we will STOP, and LOOK, at what's happened to our country, and at ourselves, and then just DO the "right" thing, it will be worth it to Him....(and to us!)
.............The right thing? Why, turn back to God, ofcourse.

BURSTING WITH JOY

Thank you,Lord, for creating the child in me. I just love to let the child in me out, to enjoy the days, in the sun, or skipping along in the waters edge. My heart just bursts open with joy, at all Your beauty, that surrounds me...........
Someday,Father,I will have a beautiful voice, but for now,the child in me, is content, just to sing her heart out, and dance all over the place, and giggle in public, and ofcourse laugh,Oh,yes,laugh! (All over the place!) I watch the waves roll in, and then stop!.............What great mind conceived of them doing this, and then, stopping, at just a certain point, everytime?!
There aren't enough "Thank You's" to send Your way,Father..........
To thank You, for this gift, You have given me. I may be older,Lord, but the child in me, is reminded, daily, to savor the moment, and to remember how precious this life You have given us, truly is!

DIVORCE OR GOD'S WAY

Well, this will be an off the cuff "blog" thought, so bear with me,folks. This is something that ways heavily on my mind, so I am speaking from the heart,with no notes!
...........Sometime, back in my early married life,I thought I could never stay married to the man I am still with.There was just "no way".I spoke with my Pastor, at the time, and he gave me 3 choices.
1.I could get a divorce, which was scripturally unsound;
2.I could stay in this marriage, and be miserable,or
3.I could stay in this marriage, and learn to be content!
............Now, this was advice, given to me, for my situation, and even though I didn't like what I was hearing, I knew, if God said it, and felt strongly about it,I needed to follow it, so I chose the latter! It wasn't easy, but I decided right then and there, to take my eyes off of myself, and place them on God, and God alone. I prayed for Him to change my husband............Well, He did some changing alright, but not on my husband! He changed me!!! He worked on my attitude, and before I knew it,I was wanting to "do" for my husband, all the things I didn't want to "do" before.
I am so glad, that I did, because it is now, almost 32 years later with this dear man, and I can't imagine my life with out him! So, if you are thinking about doing this same thing, you young women......just think about it! Don't do it! Ask God to redirect your attitudde and stay focused on The One Who Won't Let You Down.............

PAPERDOLLS

While out of town today,I found some old McCall's magazine's, and sure enough, there in the back, were the Betsy McCall paperdoll cutouts I had loved, as a child. They all looked pretty much the same, but they wore different clothes, and as soon as I saw them, it brought to mind scripture concerning how God created each of us, with different talents, but with the same Lord.We are created alike, in so many ways, complete with the fruits of the spirit, when we come to the Lord, but He equipts each of us with different gifts, and talents, but always connected to each other, by our love of the Lord

SALVATION.......4 STEP PLAN

Why do we always think that the most important thing we can teach our children, is to have good manners? Yes, it is important, to mind your "P's" and "Q's", and to show respect for your elders, and all the common courtesies, that it seems so many young people have forgotten today.............but, for heaven's sake, and I do mean that literally.For the sake of Heaven, teach your children about the Savior, and pray, that they will make a decision to ask Him into their life! This will probably be the most important decision they will ever make in their lifetime.I have presented an easy, 4 part plan, that they can learn, and follow, when seeking their Salvation.What is it, you ask? It's a 4 step plan, so don't forget.........

GRASSHOPPER OR THE ANTS ?

I journeyed to the bookstore today, to buy several children's books, for birthday gifts. The first one, was one of my favorite's......."The Grasshopper And The Ant". What a story, folks! The ants had gathered food all year long, and stored it up, for the winter months, while the Grasshopper, just thought, that was the most foolish thing to do! He felt, as if, "the world owed him a living",but.......
after, the winter months arrived,the ants had plenty to eat, and lived happily, while the grasshopper froze, from hunger!!!
........Sometimes,on our Christian walk, we think the world "owes us a living" too, and instead of gathering up God's word everyday, for security during the winter months of our lives, we choose to freeze from hunger,rather than accepting God's gracious gift of life.(I think it's called pride folks!)
God has given us all of this, because He wanted to.......not because we were owed it! Now the choice is ours!
Which one are we gonna be? The Grasshopper, or the Ant?

CASSEROLES OR DINNER?

Did it ever dawn on you, that God already thought about today, before He even spoke the world into existance? Is that not awesome? I mean,before,"In the beginning", was ever spoken,the things that are gonna happen 30 years down the road, have already been thought of, and planned for, by the God of the Universe! I guess, with a mind like that, You would have to also be in the, everyday , ordinary, "Casseroles", as well, as the huge,extraordinary, "Progressive Dinners"...........If you take the time,to look for those "Casseroles", in your everyday life, you'll find them. They are all around you! He dishes them out all the time.You just have to look and enjoy the taste!
..........The God of this Universe, covers everything,and doesn't miss a trick! Why, He's even got you and me, meeting people, who died, some 2,000 years ago. Now, I would consider that"Casserole", a good, full course meal!

THE TITUS WOMAN

.........Now, I don't consider myself an older woman...............
that is, until I look at the book of Titus. Then, I consider it a priviledge to be able to "train",not teach(there is a difference)the younger woman, to be reverent in how she lives. I need to check myself too, before I teach what is good.
..........There are always gonna be greener pastures out there, you younger ladies,but that's not God's way. He says,(and sometimes it is tough, I know) to love your husbands,and to be self controlled,and pure. You can even be busy at home, and still be kind, and people will see a modern day disciple of the Lord.
..........Now, you notice, in all of this, that I didn't say, it would be easy to do. If you ask God to love him, on the days, you just can't,.......He will! Likewise, He will also work on remolding and reshaping your attitude.I know,........... He did a major overhaul of mine,quite sometime ago, and this is the 32nd year with the same man. The same man, I said I wouldn't last 3 years with!
