ME?......JUST LIKE JESUS
This was an eye opening journey, folks!
Several years ago, my dear friend,Angela was leading our Bible study, in Aiken, on the book,"Just Like Jesus".For one of the chapters, she asked for volunteers for her to wash their feet, to show how Christ humbled Himself, even to the point where He washed the feet of His disciples......
Nobody would volunteer!
We just couldn't do it!
I finally got up enough "umph", and took my shoes and socks off, and allowed her to wash my feet, but, mind you,it was only to "help her out".
Why is it, that we have such a hard time with the characteristic of humility?
Why is it hard for us to have the attitude of a servant?
This was so important to Jesus, that He even humbled Himself, not only to wash the feet of His disciples, but He humbled Himself, even unto death, ..........upon a cross!
In the book of James,He tells us, that "He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."(James 4:6)
If we truly want to be more like Jesus, it seems that this idea, of being a servant to:
our husbands;our neighbors;our children; our workplace; our enemies......
Why, just about "everybody," is the idea that Christ wanted us to be a servant to all along.......
Don'tcha think?
I don't know about you, but I sorta like my Savior, and I kinda want to be like Him.
If being a servant is part of that, then I'll roll out the carpet & pass the butterbeans!
Becky
