THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

In the past few weeks,I've had more people stop and ask me what to say when someone loses a child,or when they lose a family member. So,I have written a few thoughts that you might tuck away, if you ever need them.....I didn't think I would ever need them, but having learned the hard way how it feels, please allow me to share what can be of help to both people involved

You don't really need to say anything.......
1.)A big hug is the most comforting thing you can give them.
I don't know why, but it is most reassuring.......
2.) "I know how you feel" doesn't cut it, if you haven't been there...
3.)Mention how much you are thinking of that person .
4.)Lift them up in prayer & mail them a prayer!
5.) Stop by and spruce up around their house for them.
6.)Plant bulbs for them in the fall, that will bloom in spring.
This is a reminder of God's hope.
7.) Remind them to be gentle with themselves.
8.) Call often, and maybe take them to lunch occasionally.
9.) Send cards months later.
10.) One of the most wonderful things you can do for a Mother who has lost a child, is to talk about their child......allow them time to bring up remembrances of their son/daughter.
Contrary to what you may think. This does NOT make them feel sad.It warms every fiber of their heart to know someone else remembers them too. It will endear you to her so much more when you bring it up too!
These are some of my thoughts for the day.....
