CHARMED, I'M SURE!
I was cleaning out my closet again, when I came across a bag, filled with some old neclaces and bracelets. One of which, was my high school charm bracelet.
What a delight to go back and see just what I had so dearly treasured(way back when).....
There was a jack in the box, from my Junior year's prom theme,......"Toyland";
An emblem of "The Future Homemakers of America";
A number "16" from my 16th birthday party;
A graduation mortar board disc;
A Mount Dora High School " Golden Hurricane" emblem;
An emblem of the state of Oregon;
A miniature piano from my piano playing days;
A miniature football, that opened up to hide notes;
A Dutch windmill;
A Methodist Youth Fellowship President's disc for the year,1963-1964;
An angel charm from Harry;
A charm with DAVE on it(But not my Dave);
A miniature Space Needle;
A "Good Luck" disc, written in Japanese;
A book for housing pictures;
A miniature basketball;
A Praying Hands, disc with the Serenity Prayer on the back;
A Miss FHA candidate disc;
A Parris Island miniature ring, from Buzzard;
A locket, with my name on it;
A disc with my name on it from Billy, who gave me the bracelet, to begin with,in the 9th grade.......
The one I remember the most,though, was a whistle, given to me, from my Mother. She said it was a reminder to me, when I wore it, to "stop", and think of God's word, before I did anything, and what His word says.......
She said,I could whistle,or "call out" to God for help, at anytime.
I've never forgotten that little piece of advice,or that whistle,either.
It is so true too. He is right there for us.
Those charms made up a good portion of my high school days, but God is the one who put the shine on each one of them, and on me, from the very start, not just in highschool, but now, and forevermore!
Becky
