JESUS

I found that in my 63 years, the one thing I appreciated the most in growing up, was my Grandmother Bouterse telling me about the love of God and all the stories of Jesus. I grew to understand that they weren't just stories either, but a covenant with His people, telling them that He would never leave them, nor forsake them! I understood this at an early age too, and the relationship with Him just grew and grew. I wasn't in a church that opened the Bible every Sunday, because it preached those wonderful "feel good" sermons that they do in the Methodist church. We had some wonderful preachers and my family was very close to them, but I didn't grow in God's word.
God, however didn't forsake me!
No, He knew where I was all that time, and was just waiting!
He was waiting until I married a man that "I thought" was a believer and who "seemed" like he was, .......and then God went to work!(He worked on him for 37 years too!) He tried me at every turn and I tried Him at every turn, but He wouldn't budge, this God of ours! When I was ready to throw in the marriage towel, He held me faithful and true to my marriage vows, and some thirty seven years later, I was so grateful for that!
God gave me New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Aiken,( PCA) where I finally heard God's word and it was like going from an appetizer to a full course meal! I couldn't get enough! When we moved to Beaufort in 2003, I just knew I would never find another church that preached the word of God again! God is always faithful, though, and He drove me right over to Community Bible Church, and I have been so blessed to sit under expository preaching about our glorious Savior, ever since!
Yes, I appreciated Grandmother telling me about Jesus way back then, and
I appreciate Jesus more for telling us how to get the gift of salvation!
I know now that He never did forsake me then, and He surely won't forsake me now!
Becky
